The History Of Opal 28

Margot returned to Portland in 2009 when her niece, Sadie Levenick, was born. She started a dinner delivery service, Dinner At Your Door (sold to Farm to Fit in 2015). In the process of looking for her own commercial kitchen, the concept for Opal 28 evolved.  Margot took possession of the now Opal 28 property and has spent the last two years throwing great parties! She says, “I wanted to create a flexible and unique venue!”

As for the history, the building was originally built as a house in 1908.  Sometime in the 50’s the house was remodeled to 4 one bedroom apartments which Margot has converted to vacation rentals---a great addition for out of town party goers or use as a bridal suite. The main level of the house turned into a family run grocery store-----before Opal 28 became a premier boutique event space, various restaurant concepts occupied the building. Perhaps you enjoyed a meal at Clementine’s or Mother Maybels?

Opal 28 is named after Margot’s grandma Sadie Feves.  The Opal is the October birthday stone and Gram was born on October 28th!  She would have been 100 this month….which we thought was a fitting reason for a celebration.  Like our facebook and Instagram pages and share this post to be entered to win Opal earrings from Malka Diamonds and lets continue the #28daysofopal.
